Lawrenceville Arts Center expands resident partnerships with ballet, symphony additions
The Lawrenceville Arts Center is broadening its artistic offerings with the addition of two new resident partners, strengthening its vision as a collaborative cultural hub serving Gwinnett County and the surrounding area.
Southern Ballet Theatre and the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra have joined Aurora Theatre as resident arts organizations, bringing ballet and professional orchestral performances to the city-operated venue while expanding opportunities for audiences to experience a diverse range of performing arts.
The Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra, a professional regional orchestra serving Northeast Georgia, will serve as the Arts Center’s resident symphony orchestra. Together, the three resident organizations will offer a calendar that includes theatrical productions, ballet, orchestral concerts and collaborative performances.

A Symphony Rises
From the wings of the Lawrenceville Arts Center Grand Stage, conductor Pyeongkang Park waited as 46 professional musicians tuned and settled into place. The stage set, Park strode to the podium to applause from an audience of 400. He raised his baton and launched the orchestra into the world premiere of “The City of Lawrenceville,” an original composition. With those first strains of music, the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra was born. The date was Oct. 27, 2024, and the LSO has been regaling Gwinnett County audiences with symphonic sounds since. That premier, though, will always hold a special place in the heart of conductor Park.
