Pyeongkang Park
Conductor and Music director
Dr. Pyeongkang (PK) Park, the founder and music director of the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra (LSO), has been actively performing various concerts since 2018. Some notable performances include the 20th Anniversary 9/11 Tribute Concert, the 140th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Korea and the U.S., the 100thAnniversary of Independence Movement Day of March, the 250th Anniversary of Beethoven's Birthday Concert, and the 100th Anniversary Korean Film Music Concert, among many others. Dr. Park has also served as assistant conductor for the 17th Pacific Region International Summer Music Association Festival (PRISMA) and Hilex! New Music Ensemble and was invited as a fellow conductor for the 35thPierrot Chamber Music Festival, where he was awarded the 'Conducting Award' and the 1stfull scholarship fellow conductor awarded by Kenneth Kiesler for the 20thConductors Retreat at Medomak. In addition to his music career, Pyeongkang has served as a classical radio host for Atlanta Radio Korea (AM790) from 2017 to 2020 and currently serves as founder and host of ‘the 11 am Concert’. A native of Seoul, South Korea Dr. Park has received numerous awards, including The American Prize in Orchestra College/University Division as Finalist Honorable Mention Conductor, Semi-Finalist in the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for American Music, the 17th International Conducting Workshop and Competition, the Claassen and Strobel Orchestra Award, and The Harold Heckman Scholarship, etc. His passion and interest in contemporary music and living composers have led him to perform music such as ‘Hymn Opera: Fanny Crosby’ - Korean Version by Hojun Lee, 'untitled_phrases' for the 9/11 Tribute Concert by Yeonsu Kim, ‘Evaporating Echoes’ by Garrison Gerard, ‘Fizzle, Sweep, Crash’ by Daniel Karcher, and ‘Eonmori in Jazz’ by Jee Yeon Kim. Holding a MM and Artist Certificate (Orchestral Conducting) from Georgia State University, Dr. Park has completed a DMA (Orchestral Conducting) at the University of Georgia with a full scholarship. He is serving as a conductor of the Greenville County Youth Orchestra.
