Music becomes a conversation between individuals, memories, and the mysteries of life in this richly expressive program. Brahms’s monumental Double Concerto brings violin and cello together as equal partners, moving from passionate conflict toward warmth, understanding, and exhilarating unity. Dan Forrest’s luminous Three Nocturnes turns toward the night sky in three poetic meditations on stars, wonder, and the vastness of time. Joe Hisaishi’s beloved Merry-Go-Round of Life adds a touch of cinematic magic before Liszt’s Les Préludes closes the program with a powerful reflection on life’s recurring passages of love, struggle, sorrow, and triumph.
